International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM15)
Timber pallets, cases and crates are among the most specified transit packaging solutions in the global distribution and trade of goods.
However, because timber is an organic material, there is a real risk of transferring pests or wood and forest diseases from one country to another via infested unprocessed raw wood, which could potentially have devastating environmental effects. To mitigate this risk, timber must undergo a heat treatment process in line with ISPM15 regulations in which it is heated to a core temperature of 56°C for a minimum of 30 minutes.
ISPM15 certification acts as a passport for timber packaging when crossing international borders, allowing traceability and verification that the packaging has been heat treated in accordance with strict regulations. We were the first company in our industry to supply ISPM15 pallets and other timber packaging, hence our FC0001 registration number and offer unrivalled expertise regarding ISPM15 timber transit packaging compliance.
