Lasting and valued relationships between a business and its customers are established by a wide range of factors.
While pricing and the quality of service will always be key, customers are also placing issues such as trust, integrity and shared values at the centre of their buying decisions.
In an increasingly competitive marketplace, it is meaningful actions rather than just words that instills customer confidence and provides them with the surety they demand.
One way to do this is through independent certification and accreditation.
The benefits of certification
At Nicklin, we work in an industry with a significant supply chain and diverse range of customers where there are often major complexities that must be properly managed, particularly when operating in different international markets.
Through our commitment to achieving important industry certifications, we can provide reassurance to all of our stakeholders, including employees, suppliers and customers, that we are able to deliver on our promises and meet the high standards that they expect.
While some certifications may be mandatory, particularly for those businesses that want to operate in certain markets, other certifications signify a commitment to go above and beyond market requirements and are a great way to empower product innovation and continued improvement to the services we provide.
Going green without the wash
Ensuring that our company operates in the most sustainable way possible is critical, both for our business and the wider environment.
Increasingly, customers are demanding that their suppliers are embracing environmental best practice. However, it is vitally important that any sustainability claims can stand up to scrutiny.
With this in mind, at Nicklin we have achieved three different certifications to ensure we are delivering on our environmental commitments.
Our Environmental Management System certification means that we are committed to continually monitoring and improving our overall environmental performance, while we also have chain of custody certification so that all our timber can be fully traced to source.
We were also the first timber pallet & packaging manufacturer in the UK to be registered under the UK Wood Packaging Material Marking Programme with regards the supply of ISPM15 compliant timber packaging, which is packaging that has been treated to remove invasive forestry pests so as to protect the eco-system of its destination country.
A focus on quality
We are determined that every aspect of our business is the best it can possible be and our Quality Management System certification recognises our systematic approach to managing our processes and ensuring our customer’s expectations are consistently met and we hope, exceeded.
Obtaining these industry certifications is an ongoing process and impacts across our entire operation. We regularly review all of our processes and ensure that we are not only meeting the requirements of our current certifications but continuing to raise our standards even higher.
